DA Conaty Announces Indictment for Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child

Monticello, NY - On January 13, 2026, Sullivan County District Attorney Brian P. Conaty announced that a Sullivan County Grand Jury has returned an eight-count indictment charging Joseph Wallace, 51, of Liberty, with three counts of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, class A-II felonies, Rape in the Third Degree, a class E felony, and four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, class A misdemeanors, stemming from allegations of sexual abuse of a minor.

Monticello, NY – Brian P. Conaty, District Attorney of Sullivan County, today announced that the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office is participating in the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services’ (DCJS) Safe Storage Saves Lives program. This statewide initiative is designed to encourage responsible firearm ownership by promoting secure storage practices that protect children, families, and communities.

DA Conaty Announces 16-Year Sentence for Kidnapping and Weapon Possession

Monticello, NY - On January 12, 2026, Sullivan County District Attorney Brian P. Conaty announced that Robert Dunn, 27, of Liberty, was sentenced to sixteen years incarceration in state prison to be followed by five years of post-release supervision upon his convictions for Kidnapping in the Second Degree, a class B violent felony and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a class D felony.

Celebrate Winter at the Sixth Annual SnO&W!

Wurtsboro, NY - Come out and celebrate winter with the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail Alliance on Sunday, February 1st at 10:00 AM on the historic O&W Rail Trail in the Town of Mamakating. 

The SnO&W started in 2020 as a snowshoe fun run and walk and rotates locations each year to feature a different segment of the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail. Participants are encouraged to bring their own snowshoes or similar gear if they have them. Limited snowshoes and microspikes will be available to rent, free of charge, on a first come, first served basis.

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County’s planners seek public input on an update to its Hazard Mitigation Plan.

In cooperation with New York State’s Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (NYSDHSES), the County is in the midst of updating its hazard response plan so that local communities together identify risks, evaluate vulnerabilities and develop strategies to reduce those risks.

Monticello, NY – “Money may not grow on trees, but you can better equip your non-profit, small business, or municipality to obtain grant funding,” says Sullivan County Grants Administration Director Arthur Hussey.

He adds that municipalities, for-profit businesses, and not-for-profit corporations are usually eligible for Federal, State, or private charitable grant funding but may find that they are not “grant ready” when an opportunity arises, due to lack of proper project planning.
