Free Certified Nursing Assistant Course Starts in September

Monticello, NY – Building upon the popularity and success of construction, auto repair, security guard, welding and electrician courses offered in the last two years, Sullivan County’s Center for Workforce Development (CWD) and SUNY Sullivan have teamed up once again to offer a practical skills course – this time to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – at no cost to up to 15 local residents who qualify.

DA Conaty Announces Guilty Verdict in Weapons and Narcotics Case

Monticello, NY - On June 19, 2025, Brian P. Conaty, District Attorney of Sullivan County, announced that a Sullivan County Jury found Jonathan Jorge, 30, of Monticello, guilty of  two counts of Criminal Possession of Weapon in the Third Degree, Class D violent felonies, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, a Class C felony, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a Class A misdemeanor following a three-day jury trial.

Two Sullivan County Residents Are Top 'Older New Yorkers'

Albany, NY – Sullivan County’s Gayle Irving and Sabina Toomey travelled last month to Albany to each receive the NYS Office for the Aging’s “Older New Yorker” award.
