Monticello, NY - Students from Eldred High School’s government classes recently attended a Sullivan County Legislature meeting held on December 18, where they gained a firsthand look at how local government operates. During the visit, students observed legislative discussions and learned about county operations and the lawmaking process.
As part of the experience, students met with Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office Chief Investigator Scott Kinne. Investigator Kinne shared his career history in law enforcement within Sullivan County and discussed the wide range of career opportunities available in the field. He also explained how law enforcement agencies work closely with the District Attorney’s Office to build strong, well-documented cases that lead to successful prosecutions and accountability.
“I was pleased to have the opportunity to speak with students in our community who had an interest in our local government and how it works,” said Investigator Kinne.
The visit provided students with a valuable educational opportunity to connect classroom instruction with real-world civic engagement and to better understand the role of local government and the criminal justice system in their community.
