Youth Bureau Offers Funding to Local Groups

Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Youth Bureau welcomes proposals from local youth, community, school and municipal groups interested in obtaining funding for their 2026 programming.

“The Sullivan County Legislature has provided $200,000 for my office to distribute to youth-oriented programs and activities across the County, and we want to allocate every cent,” said Youth Bureau Director Cathie Paci. “This money is meant to improve the lives of our children and teens throughout the rest of 2026, so I encourage eligible groups, schools and municipalities to apply now!”

DA Conaty Commends Liberty Police Chief for Securing Release of Federal Funds

Monticello, NY - Sullivan County District Attorney Brian P. Conaty commends Village of Liberty Police Chief Steven D’Agata, who serves as Chair of the Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (PAARI) Public Safety Council, for his leadership in securing the release of federal funding through the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program (COSSUP).

Celebrate Spring at the 1st Annual FO&WL

Hurleyville, NY – The arrival of Spring in the Catskills is marked by increased bird activity as temperatures rise, signaling migration and mating season. To coincide with “Go Birding Day” and “Celebrate Trails Day” – two national events traditionally held on the last Saturday in April – the Sullivan County Audubon Society and the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail have joined up to host an inaugural bird watching event in Hurleyville on Saturday, April 25.

Time for Spring Cleaning!

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County’s Annual Litter Pluck launches April 1 and runs all the way through October 31, 2026. By resolution of the County Legislature, the disposal fee is waived during that time for roadside, public trail, and water bodies/shoreline litter at County-operated transfer stations.

This popular annual event is coordinated by the County’s Parks, Recreation and Beautification Department and the Division of Public Works.  

Cooley Road Closing for Six Weeks

Parksville, NY – The Sullivan County Division of Public Works is closing a section of County Road 85 (Cooley Rd.) to replace County Bridge 121, located near Flynn Road north of Parksville. This section of County Road 85 will remain closed for approximately 6 weeks. 

The Sullivan County Division of Public Works will post a detour route using Flynn Rd., Anderson Rd. (in towns of Liberty and Rockland), and Conklin Hill Rd. (Town of Rockland).
