What is Health Education?

Health education promotes choices that improve health and prevent disease. Our department aims to positively influence the health behavior of people in our community for greater health outcomes.


What does a Public Health Educator do?

  • Community presentations on health topics
  • Increase awareness of public health issues by providing health education and  information programs to Sullivan County residents.
  • Supports public health programs through public outreach and education, media coverage, and education of health and human services providers.
  • Collaborates with community organizations to improve the health of county residents

Sullivan County Public Health provides health education, information and presentations on a variety of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Childhood immunizations
  • Childhood lead prevention
  • Childhood obesity prevention
  • Community Wellness Initiatives
  • General nutrition information
  • Injury prevention
  • Lyme disease prevention
  • Rabies & prevention of animal bites
  • Freedom from Smoking Classes
  • Help Someone Stop Smoking Today
