Flags That Flew Over Colonial America to be Displayed at Fort Delaware

Narrowsburg, NY – Head over to Fort Delaware Museum of Colonial History this Saturday, June 22, for an incredible display of early American flags!

In addition to all the other fascinating attractions at the Fort, visitors can take in a full exhibit of flags flown over the Thirteen Colonies and the infant United States. The creation and meaning of Flag Day will be discussed, as well as the significance each flag played in the formation of the United States. 

Public Invited to Talk About Sharing Services

Monticello, NY – Deputy Sullivan County Manager John Liddle is asking residents and business owners throughout the County to share with him their thoughts about more efficient government.

“County Manager Josh Potosek has directed me to spearhead the creation of the State-required Countywide Shared Services Plan for the coming year, and I want to obtain as wide a range of ideas as possible,” Liddle remarked. “The State has promised to match any savings we realize with additional funding, so we have an opportunity to really make a difference for taxpayers.”

The Sullivan County HIPAA Compliance Office is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, maintenance, and adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures covering the privacy, access, and patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws and the healthcare organization’s information privacy practices.

County No Longer Collecting School Taxes

Monticello, NY – Taxpayers should be aware that the Sullivan County Treasurer’s Office will no longer collect school taxes this November.

“My staff and I will continue to relevy unpaid school taxes and make our public school districts whole in April of each year,” affirmed Treasurer Nancy Buck, “but it will be up to the districts themselves to determine to what date in November they will collect taxes.”

The Sullivan County Legislature approved the change last month, and the reasoning is twofold, said Buck.

Bloomingburg Bridge to Be Closed for Four Months

Bloomingburg, NY – The Sullivan County Division of Public Works is closing a portion of County Road 66 (Hamilton Road) in the Town of Mamakating to rehabilitate County Bridge 360. 

County Bridge 360 is located approximately 0.4 miles southeast of the intersection of County Road 66 (Hamilton Rd.) and County Road 61 (Burlingham Rd.) in Bloomingburg.

This section of County Road 66 is scheduled to be closed to all traffic starting at 8 a.m., Monday, July 8, remaining closed for approximately four months.

Liberty, NY – The Sullivan County Public Health Department is notifying the public of possible exposure to an individual who recently tested positive for measles. Sullivan County has had seven (7) confirmed measles cases so far this year.

  • Residents may have been exposed to measles if they were at the following location on June 1, 2019 between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m., or between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Sullivan County's 911 Coordinator Now Also EMS Coordinator

Monticello, NY – Longtime E-911 Coordinator Alex Rau this month was unanimously named as the EMS Coordinator by the Sullivan County Legislature.

“Alex is a top-notch professional, and this County is very lucky to have his services and experience,” stated Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez. “I am confident he will take our Bureau of Emergency Medical Services – and our entire community of emergency medical responders – to the next level.”
