Hurleyville, NY – This August 3 and 4, the Sullivan County Historical Society will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Woodstock with two days of live “music of the 60’s” and an exhibition of newly discovered black-and-white photographs from the original Woodstock concert.
Monticello, NY – The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for many parts of New York State until 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. This warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely.

A Community Needs Assessment Survey is one of several ways in which the Office is reaching out. The data gathered from this survey is an essential piece of the process that evaluates available resources and supports and identifies gaps in services experience by older adults and their caregivers.

Barryville, NY – The remains of the 46 members of the colonial militia who were killed at the Battle of Minisink on July 22, 1779 were left on the hilltop where the battle took place for 43 years before an expedition was mounted to recover them.
Livingston Manor, NY – The Sullivan County Division of Public Works (DPW) will begin a series of roadwork projects in Livingston Manor tomorrow.
On Friday, July 12, DPW crews will begin mill-and-fill repair work along the entire length of County Route 81 (DeBruce Road), continuing through Tuesday, July 16. While the road will remain open to traffic, travelers should expect some delays.
Bethel, NY – To accommodate New York State’s Catskills Challenge event, the County-managed Lake Superior State Park on Dr. Duggan Road in Bethel will temporarily be closed to the public tomorrow, Thursday, July 11, until approximately 2 p.m.
