Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Legislature this week unanimously agreed to ask New York State to increase the local share of the sales tax by half a percent, requesting a raise in the current rate from 4% to 4.5%. (The State collects an additional 4%, so if the State grants the request, sales tax in Sullivan County would increase from 8% to 8.5%.)

Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Human Rights Commission, in partnership with Sullivan Allies Leading Together (SALT) and the Callicoon Business Association, invites the entire Sullivan County community to join them for a vigil at the Callicoon Train Depot between Upper and Lower Main St. in Callicoon on Sunday, February 23 at 4:30 p.m. There will be coffee and tea at The Callicoon Pantry, 43 Lower Main St., after the vigil.
Liberty, NY – The State will initiate a second round of Emergency HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) benefits on Tuesday, February 18, and has also extended the first round of Emergency HEAP benefits, plus the regular HEAP benefits, to April 24, 2020.
The new benefits, which can only be accessed after regular HEAP and initial Emergency HEAP benefits have been exhausted, will mirror the first round of Emergency HEAP:
