Monticello, NY – Taxpayers should be aware that the Sullivan County Treasurer’s Office will no longer collect school taxes this November.

“My staff and I will continue to relevy unpaid school taxes and make our public school districts whole in April of each year,” affirmed Treasurer Nancy Buck, “but it will be up to the districts themselves to determine to what date in November they will collect taxes.”

The Sullivan County Legislature approved the change last month, and the reasoning is twofold, said Buck.

Bloomingburg, NY – The Sullivan County Division of Public Works is closing a portion of County Road 66 (Hamilton Road) in the Town of Mamakating to rehabilitate County Bridge 360. 

County Bridge 360 is located approximately 0.4 miles southeast of the intersection of County Road 66 (Hamilton Rd.) and County Road 61 (Burlingham Rd.) in Bloomingburg.

This section of County Road 66 is scheduled to be closed to all traffic starting at 8 a.m., Monday, July 8, remaining closed for approximately four months. 

Liberty, NY – The Sullivan County Public Health Department is notifying the public of possible exposure to an individual who recently tested positive for measles. Sullivan County has had seven (7) confirmed measles cases so far this year.

• Residents may have been exposed to measles if they were at the following location on June 1, 2019 between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m., or between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Woodridge, NY – The Sullivan County Local Early Intervention Coordinating Council (LEICC) will meet Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Novo Springs Farm at 331 East Pond Road in Woodridge. 

Early Intervention (EI) provides in-home services like physical, occupational and speech therapy to children with disabilities and or developmental delays.

Liberty, NY – The Sullivan County Public Health Department is notifying the public of possible exposures to individuals who recently tested positive for measles. Sullivan County now has five (5) confirmed cases since March and two additional suspect cases.

Monticello, NY – Longtime E-911 Coordinator Alex Rau this month was unanimously named as the EMS Coordinator by the Sullivan County Legislature.

Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Legislature today unanimously approved Public Health Order No. 1 of 2019, which empowers the County’s Department of Public Health Services to require full measles immunization for staff members and campers at summer camps in the County.

Rock Hill, NY – The 2019 Sullivan County Real Estate Tax Foreclosure Auction will be held Wednesday, June 12 at the Sullivan Ramada Rock Hill at 283 Rock Hill Drive in Rock Hill.

Sullivan County Treasurer Nancy Buck urges potential bidders – especially first-time bidders – to attend a Bidder’s Seminar on Monday, June 10 at 7 p.m. at the same location. The terms and conditions of the auction will be explained, as will the foreclosure process and associated liens. Questions about specific properties can be answered at that time, as well.

Wurtsboro, NY – The Sullivan County Division of Public Works is closing a portion of Haven Road, in the Town of Mamakating, to replace County Bridge 183.  County Bridge 36 is located approximately half a mile southeast of the intersection of Haven Road and State Route 209 in Wurtsboro.

This section of Haven Road is scheduled to be closed to all traffic starting at 8 a.m., Monday, July 15, and will remain closed for approximately five months.

Monticello, NY – A public meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. in the Sullivan County Government Center’s Legislative Hearing Room, 100 North Street, Monticello, in compliance with NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Phase II stormwater regulations.
