Drug Task Force Shifts Into Gear for 2023

State Giving Sullivan $100,000 to Create a Bicycle/Pedestrian Plan

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County is getting $100,000 to develop a biking/walking plan, State officials just announced.

“In order to boost our health ranking and make our communities more attractive and vibrant, we asked the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation to consider us for a Climate Smart Communities Grant, and I’m delighted that they agreed to fund the creation of a bicycle/pedestrian plan,” Sullivan County Planning Commissioner Freda Eisenberg said.

FCC Asking for Public's Help in Ensuring Accurate Broadband Map

Monticello, NY – The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is putting out a call for everyone to check the new National Broadband Map for accuracy. New York State and Sullivan County are encouraging the same.

“Knowing exactly where we have high-speed Internet service, and what kind of service it is, will ensure we get the attention and the funding we need to make broadband available in every corner of the County,” explains District 3 County Legislator Mike Brooks, who chairs the County’s Broadband Local Development Corporation.

County to Collect 2023 Fallsburg Property Taxes

South Fallsburg, NY – Thanks to an agreement between the Sullivan County Legislature and the Fallsburg Town Board, the County Treasurer’s Office will be collecting Fallsburg county/town property taxes in 2023.

“The retirement of our tax collector led us to approach the County about partnering for the upcoming tax collection season,” explained Fallsburg Town Supervisor Kathy Rappaport. “We’re grateful for the County Treasurer’s response, which will help us meet present needs while we plan for the future.”

Sullivan County Debuts Series of Welcome Videos

Monticello, NY – A new icon has popped up on Sullivan County’s website, sullivanny.us, and it leads to a wide-ranging exploration of the area’s offerings.

This past August, a videographer from Rochester-based CGI Digital spent three days crisscrossing the County to capture footage of the region’s natural beauty, tourism attractions, community-oriented agencies, and healthcare institutions.

Sullivan County Opens Second Warming Center

Liberty, NY – Sullivan County has now opened its Monticello warming shelter and will keep it open every night of the winter season from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. The shelter is located at the Ted Stroebele Recreation Center at 10 Jefferson Street, across from the Government Center.

This is the second of two warming centers available in Sullivan County, the other located at the Liberty United Methodist Church, 170 North Main Street, Liberty. Hours of operation are the same.
