Monticello, NY – Legislators on Thursday unanimously approved reducing fares for a one-way Move Sullivan bus ride from $2 to just 30 cents. They also agreed to cover that cost for every rider, meaning that any trip via Move Sullivan will be free of charge, starting August 1, 2022.
Monticello, NY – Sullivan County legislators today approved committing $15 million toward a $30 million aquatic and recreation facility at SUNY Sullivan. A 25-meter-long, 8-lane pool and a 200-meter track oval will be centerpieces of the indoor arena.

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County’s independent auditors informed legislators Thursday that County government’s financial picture has improved and is now “stable,” based on the results of their audit of the 2021 fiscal year.
“You did experience a pretty significant increase [in revenue] based on the sales tax primarily,” noted Matthew Montalbo of Drescher & Malecki, a Buffalo-based accounting firm. “All in all, [this report is] an improvement from the prior year.”
Parksville, NY – The Sullivan County Division of Public Works is closing a portion of Liberty Town Highway 47 (Lily Pond Road) near Parksville to replace County Bridge 228. The bridge is located approximately 500 feet north of the intersection of Cooley Road (County Road 85) and Lily Pond Rd. This section of Town Highway 47 will be closed to all traffic starting 8 a.m. July 18, 2022, and will remain closed for approximately four (4) months.
Monticello, NY – For the seventh time in a row, the Sullivan County Manager’s Office and Budget Office have earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
A panel of judges reviewed more than 1,700 budgets submitted to the GFOA, including Sullivan County’s version for the 2022 fiscal year. They judged the budgets on their excellence as policy documents, financial plans, operations guides and communications devices, deeming Sullivan’s to be “outstanding” in all four categories.
Monticello, NY – Sullivan County Treasurer Nancy Buck is pleased to note that the County’s decision to extend the delinquent property redemption deadline from April 30 to June 30 this year allowed 35 homeowners to retain their properties, while also reaping $400,000 in tax revenue for the County.
