The Sullivan County Division of Public Works is closing a portion of Liberty Town Highway 70 (Townsend Road), in the Town of Liberty, to replace County Bridge 404. County Bridge 404 is located approximately 0.6 miles southwest of the intersection of State Route 52 and Town Highway 70 (Townsend Rd.). This section of Town Highway 70 is scheduled to be closed to all traffic starting 8:00am May 1st, 2020, and will remain closed for approximately 5 months.

Liberty, NY – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, New York State has initiated a third round of HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) benefits, both Regular and Emergency, through June 30.

The Emergency benefits, which can only be accessed after regular HEAP and initial Emergency HEAP benefits have been exhausted, will mirror the first round of Emergency HEAP:

Liberty, NY – Sullivan County Health & Family Services Commissioner Stephanie Brown announced today that 41 new cases of COVID-19 (2019 Novel Coronavirus) have been confirmed at the County-owned and operated Care Center at Sunset Lake in Liberty. These are in addition to six previously announced cases.

Monticello, NY – Due to ongoing and anticipated fiscal impacts from the 2019 Novel Coronavirus pandemic, the Sullivan County Legislature today unanimously authorized more than $6 million worth of cuts to the 2020 County Budget, including the layoffs of 78 County employees, effective May 2.
