Woodridge, NY – For some Sullivan County organizations, this February there’s no business like snow business!

On Saturday, February 22 at 10:30 a.m., Catskill Mountainkeeper invites the community to snowshoe on the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail from Mountaindale to Woodridge at the first annual SnO&W Snowshoe Fun Run and Walk.

Organizers of Popular Music Series Will Perform at Next Outing

Hurleyville, NY – For nearly 10 years, the Americana band Little Sparrow (Aldo Troiani and Carol Smith) have been presenting live music at the Sullivan County Museum in Hurleyville. Their first project, the Woodsongs Coffeehouse, was an evening series of concerts that ran for eight years. Notable guests included Thurman Barker and Trinity, the Inner Urge Trio, mandolinist Joe Walsh, guitarist Grant Gordy, the Coal Town Rounders, Eastlande, MiZ (Mike Mizwinski),and Louie Setzer and the Appalachian Mountain Boys.

Youth Bureau Announces 2020 Grant Opportunities

 

Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Youth Bureau is now accepting grant applications from organizations which serve children and youth within Sullivan County.

The Youth Bureau receives monies annually from the County and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to fund youth development programs within Sullivan County. Eligible applicants include private nonprofit organizations, schools and municipalities.

Flu Is Prevalent in Sullivan County - Protect Yourself!

Liberty, NY – Sullivan County Public Health Services is warning residents that the flu is here, in force.

The New York State Department of Health declared the flu to be prevalent in New York State on December 5, 2019. From December 1, 2019 through January 24, 2020, there were 258 new laboratory-confirmed cases of the flu and 345 positive rapid flu tests in Sullivan County. This is well above the number of flu cases normally experienced this time of year.

Bethel, County Team Up to Collect Taxes

Deputy Sullivan County Treasurer Kathleen Lara, sitting, has become a familiar face to Town of Bethel taxpayers, as she now spends several days a week in the town hall in White Lake, as part of a tax collection agreement between the Town and County. Standing behind her are County Treasurer Nancy Buck and Town Supervisor Dan Sturm.

White Lake, NY – The Town of Bethel and the Sullivan County Treasurer’s Office have partnered to collect Bethel property owners’ County and Town taxes this year, following the resignation of the Town Tax Collector.

Local with a Bottomless Heart Lauded by Legislature Today

Sullivan County’s latest Distinguished Citizen Awardee, Swan Lake resident Joanne Gerow (center), was lauded by the Legislature today for her tireless work in protecting and aiding animals.
