Monticello, NY – Legislature Chairman Robert Doherty announces that District Attorney Meagan Galligan will join Legislature Vice Chair Mike Brooks, County Manager Josh Potosek and Public Health Director Nancy McGraw at the next Live Town Hall this Monday, June 22 at 1 p.m.

The following Thursday, June 25, four area religious leaders – Rabbi Lawrence Zierler, Father Edward Bader, Imam Samuel Encarnacion and Pastor David Coon – will talk about coronavirus’ impact on their missions, their congregations, their services and their everyday activities.

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County legislators today approved County Manager Josh Potosek’s proposed restructuring of County government.

“Coronavirus has instituted a harsh reality: we are losing millions of dollars in revenue every month,” Legislature Chairman Robert Doherty stated. “The only responsible option is to seek cost savings wherever and whenever we can, and this reorganization – plus a range of expense reductions – will save County taxpayers more than $1.2 million (net) every year.”

Monticello, NY – Starting Tuesday, June 23, as part of the Phase 3 reopening authorized by the State, the Sullivan County DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) will begin handling in-person transactions at the office in the Government Center in Monticello. Due to extremely limited staffing, these visits will be limited to Sullivan County residents only and must be by appointment.

Tusten, NY – The Sullivan County Division of Public Works is closing a portion of County Road 26 (Crystal Lake Road), in the Town of Tusten, to replace County Bridge 471. County Bridge 471 is located approximately 1.6 miles northeast of the intersection of County Road 26 (Crystal Lake Road) and County Road 23 (Lumberland Mt. Hope). This section of County Road 26 is scheduled to be closed to all traffic starting 8:00AM June 22nd, 2020, and will remain closed for approximately 4 weeks.

Liberty, NY – Sullivan County Public Health Services is pleased to announce that the County improved its overall level in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s County Health Rankings and Roadmap report for 2020.

“The report was initially released in March, at almost the same time as COVID-19 exploded nationally and globally,” Public Health Director Nancy McGraw said. “The timing would have been awkward, and the messages would have conflicted at a time when so many people were becoming ill, so we chose to wait until now to share this very welcome news.”

Monticello, NY – With the entrance of the Mid-Hudson region of the State into Phase 2 of the NY Forward plan tomorrow, June 9, Sullivan County government offices will slowly begin reopening to in-person visits.

“We are bringing back less than 50% of our employees onsite, and offices will be open to the public by appointment only,” explained County Manager Josh Potosek. “This is to ensure that the plan we’ve developed is workable and safe before we bring back more employees and reopen for walk-in customers – likely with the start of Phase 3.”
