Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Legislature will be accepting applications for the 2022 Legislative Discretionary Contract Program, intended for not-for-profit agencies to apply for consideration of legislative funding. Resolution No. 327-16, unanimously passed on July 21, 2016, adopted Program Guidelines for analyzing annual requests for funding.

Monticello, NY – With COVID-19 statistics continuing to climb locally and nationally, Sullivan County Manager Joshua Potosek has issued an Emergency Order reinstating the facial mask-wearing requirement for employees and visitors to all County buildings.
“This measure is designed to limit the spread of coronavirus, the Delta variant of which appears to be significantly driving up infections,” Potosek explained. “Due to the limited capacity of our local health systems and our obligation to provide a safe workplace, this Order is necessary.”

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County’s independent auditors informed legislators Thursday that County government’s financial picture is improving, based on the results of their audit of the 2020 fiscal year.
“2020 was obviously an unorthodox year,” acknowledged Matthew Montalbo of Drescher & Malecki, a Buffalo-based accounting firm. “You did have to significantly reduce your expenditures really to even come close to a balanced budget in 2020.”
Liberty, NY – Public Health Director Nancy McGraw is pleased to announce that, as of August 6, 2021, Sullivan County Public Health Services, community health care partners and area pharmacists have vaccinated 38,608 people against COVID-19 with at least one dose, and 35,050 have had a completed vaccine series. Liberty, NY – With COVID-19 cases climbing towards the three-digit mark – after having been in the single digits just a month ago – Sullivan County Public Health Services is urging people to take proper precautions, including getting vaccinated.
“In just a week’s time, our active cases have tripled, from 24 on July 26 to 72 on August 2,” noted Public Health Director Nancy McGraw. “This indicates transmission is becoming widespread again.”
Liberty, NY – Lyme Disease and other tick-borne illnesses continue to be a health concern in Sullivan County.
“While Lyme Disease remains the prevalent tick-transmitted disease in the County, we are seeing a dramatic rise in the number of cases of anaplasmosis, another tick-borne illness,” notes Public Health Director Nancy McGraw. “In all of 2019, Sullivan County had 653 cases of Lyme and 32 cases of anaplasmosis. In the first half of 2021, there have already been 322 cases of Lyme and 32 cases of anaplasmosis.”
