Monticello, NY – For the ninth time in a row, the Sullivan County Budget Office has earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

A panel of judges reviewed over 1,700 budgets submitted to the GFOA, including Sullivan County’s version for the 2024 fiscal year. They judged the budgets on their excellence as policy documents, financial plans, operations guides and communications devices, deeming Sullivan’s to be proficient in all four categories.

Hurleyville, NY – Join your neighbors at the Sullivan County Museum on Sunday, May 5, at 2 p.m. for an afternoon of songs drawn from the rich legacy of traditional Americana and bluegrass music. The free performance is sponsored by the Frederick Cook Society.

Kevin Ege has been playing guitar since he was 9 years old, inspired by the great bluegrass and folk guitarists of the sixties. His influences include everyone from Doc Watson and Arlo Guthrie to Lyle Lovett, Peter Rowan and Bob Dylan. 

Swan Lake, NY – The Sullivan County Emergency Services Training Center recently held a commissioner training class presented by Greg Serio from the Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York.

Over 50 local fire commissioners, several secretaries and treasurers, and a few chiefs from Sullivan County – plus a number from outside the County – attended the class.

Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Youth Bureau is now accepting grant applications from organizations which serve children and youth within Sullivan County.

The Youth Bureau receives monies annually from the Sullivan County Legislature to fund youth programming within Sullivan County. Eligible applicants include private nonprofit organizations, schools and municipalities.
