Nominate Your Favorite Older New Yorker!

Monticello, NY – The NYS Office for the Aging will celebrate Older New Yorkers’ Day on Friday, November 3, 2023, and Sullivan County has an opportunity to include up to two local honorees!

Though the ceremony itself will be virtual, all honorees will receive a package that includes:

•           A commemorative pin

•           A hard copy of the book of biographies

•           A certificate

County Manager Selects New Public Safety Commissioner

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County Manager Joshua A. Potosek is pleased to welcome Scott F. Schulte as the new Commissioner of Public Safety.

“Scott has extensive education and experience in emergency management and fire investigation,” Potosek states. “I welcome him to the team and look forward to working closely with him to protect and enhance the safety and security of the people of Sullivan County.”

Veterans Service Agency to Temporarily Close for Trainings

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County’s Veterans Service Agency will be closed from Monday, June 5 through Thursday, June 8 in order for staff to complete required Federal trainings.

Emails and calls will be answered during that time as staff are available. Walk-ins will be accommodated if possible, but immediate service cannot be guaranteed.

Appointments remain the best method to obtain services from the VSA. To schedule a visit, please call 845-807-0233.

Airport Terminal Demolition and Rebuild Project Starts

White Lake, NY – In preparation for a $20 million-plus rebuild, the John J.J. McGough Terminal of Sullivan County International Airport will close this Tuesday, May 30.

“Airport operations will be unaffected,” said Public Works Commissioner Edward McAndrew, whose team of engineers, airport workers and laborers have already removed furniture, fixtures and other items from the 55-year-old building. “Throughout the two years of this project, the Airport will remain open for takeoffs, landings, maintenance/repairs, storage, refueling and flight instruction.”
