Callicoon, NY – Join Sullivan County’s Division of Planning and partners at Callicoon Riverside Park one last time this summer for the Catskill Regional Invasive Species Program (CRISP)!

A program of The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development, CRISP helps restore and protect native environments and is turning its attention to Callicoon’s former Upper Delaware Campgrounds, which Sullivan County is developing into its newest park.

Tax Foreclosure Auction Set for September 6 & 7

Monticello, NY – The 2023 Sullivan County Real Estate Tax Foreclosure Auction will be held online only on Wednesday, September 6 and Thursday, September 7.

Sullivan County Treasurer Nancy Buck urges potential bidders to register now at https://aarauctions.com/servlet/Search.do?auctionId=6092 to receive a packet via email explaining the terms and conditions of the auction, along with the foreclosure process and associated liens. A bidders’ seminar is available to watch online, as well.

Raising Awareness About Child Support

Monticello, NY – In recognition of August as Child Support Awareness Month, the Sullivan County Child Support Unit will host an outreach event this Thursday, August 17 from noon until 3 p.m. in the Government Center lobby, 100 North Street, Monticello.

Information will be provided about the Child Support Office, and staff will be present to answer questions. Brochures, free snacks, and prizes will be given throughout the afternoon!

Multiple Pertussis Cases Confirmed in Sullivan County

Liberty, NY – Sullivan County Department of Public Health would like to notify the public of an increase in cases of pertussis (whooping cough) identified in children of varying ages, with five (5) confirmed just this week. 

“This is an important advisory, and comes during National Immunization Awareness Month,” said Director of Public Health Karen Holden. “This month reinforces why vaccines are important for people of all ages and how they can help prevent serious, sometimes deadly, diseases and illnesses.”

Liberty, NY – Sullivan County District 6 Legislator Luis Alvarez continues to sit on four influential committees of the National Association of Counties (NACo).

NACo President Mary Jo McGuire this month notified Alvarez of his reappointment to the national advocacy organization’s Immigration Reform Task Force, Programs and Services Standing Committee, Rural Action Caucus, and Veterans and Military Services Committee.

Are You 55 or Older? This Survey Is for You!

Monticello, NY — The Sullivan County Office for the Aging invites everyone 55 and older to take five minutes to fill out a short survey to help improve services and programs in the County.

“I promise this isn’t a waste of time,” assures Office for the Aging Director Lise-Anne Deoul. “We’ve worked hard with our partner and survey creator Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress to develop questions that get right to the things we need to know to do better by our citizens.”

County Route 164 in Kohlertown to Close for Five Weeks

Jeffersonville, NY – The Sullivan County Division of Public Works will close a portion of County Road 164, in the Town of Delaware near the intersection with Route 52 in Jeffersonville, to construct the Kohlertown Flood Risk Reduction Project. This section of road will be closed to traffic starting 7 a.m., Monday, August 7 and will remain closed for approximately five (5) weeks.

The Sullivan County Division of Public Works will post signage for the detour using State Route 52 and Miller Road.
