Monticello, NY – Let the fun begin! Sullivan County’s Senior Games are returning to Monticello this September, and if you’re 55 or older, we’re looking for you to compete!

A bevy of friendly competitive sports will be on tap at the Ted Stroebele Recreation Center in Monticello, starting with the opening ceremony and breakfast at 8 a.m. Monday, September 11.

Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Legislature is pleased to continue the Legislative Discretionary Contract Program intended for not-for-profit agencies to apply for consideration of legislative funding.  Resolution No. 327-16, unanimously passed on July 21, 2016, adopted Program Guidelines for analyzing annual requests for funding.

Sullivan County, NY - The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for today, Thursday, August 3 for the Lower Hudson Valley Region, including Sullivan County. The pollutant of concern is ozone. Those with respiratory conditions, heart or lung disease, asthma or older adults may be at higher risk of being affected by air quality issues.

Monticello, NY - The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) today recognized Sullivan County as a model municipality for its actions to strengthen resiliency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In recognition of this achievement, DEC designated Sullivan County as the 15th Certified Climate Smart Community in New York. In addition, NYSERDA recently designated the county as a Clean Energy Community. These achievements support Governor Andrew M.

Liberty, NY - The Sullivan County Soil and Water Conservation District is now starting their annual Trout Stocking Program.  

If you are interested in stocking your pond with trout, fathead minnows, or crawfish this fall, the District will be accepting orders until Monday, September 18, 2017.  Rainbow and Brook trout are being offered for sale.  Trout should be stocked in cold-water ponds.  

Monticello, NY - Bidders are welcome from now through August 28 on approximately 230 lots of vehicles, heavy equipment (yellow iron), light/medium/heavy-duty trucks, power tools and assorted parts up for auction by the Sullivan County Division of Public Works (DPW).
