NBRC will prepare an 8-Step Decision-Making Process review in compliance with Executive Order (EO) 11988 (Floodplain Management) to ensure federally funded projects consider floodplain impacts and avoid unnecessary risks.

Swan Lake, NY – Following last year’s inaugural outing, the Sullivan County Emergency Services Youth Academy will be returning July 21-25, 2025.

“Our first Academy was an outstanding and exciting success, introducing local teens to the huge array of methods and equipment our firefighters, EMTs, and police officers utilize,” notes Sullivan County Public Safety Commissioner Scott Schulte. “We’ve upped our game for this year, and the invitation is out for teens to spend a week with us that they will never, ever forget!”

A New Look at Sullivan County's Parks!

Hurleyville, NY – The Sullivan County Parks & Recreation Department is proud to unveil an exhibition showcasing photographs taken of the landscapes and wildlife at our parks and museum!

Featuring the work of local photographers, the new exhibition is on display at the Sullivan County Museum, 265 Main Street, Hurleyville, and admission is free. The Museum is open Tuesdays-Saturdays 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and the exhibition will be on display throughout the summer.

Time for Spring Cleaning, Sullivan County!

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County’s Annual Roadside & Trail Litter Pluck launches April 1 and runs all the way through October 31, 2025. By resolution of the County Legislature, the disposal fee is waived during that time for roadside & public trail litter at County-operated transfer stations.

This popular annual event is coordinated by the County’s Parks, Recreation and Beautification Department and the Division of Public Works.

Redemption Date for 2023 Tax-Foreclosed Properties Is April 30, 2025

Monticello, NY – Properties in Sullivan County subject to this year’s 2023 tax foreclosure proceeding can be redeemed through April 30, 2025.

“It’s important for taxpayers to know this date, because we want everyone to remain in their homes and keep their properties for as long as they are able,” said County Treasurer Nancy Buck. “The very last resort is foreclosure – which we undertake reluctantly and carefully, according to State law.”

DA Conaty Announces 12-Year Sentence for Illegal Weapon Possession

Monticello, NY - On March 12, 2025, Sullivan County District Attorney Brian P. Conaty announced that Isaiah “Tall Blood” Blanch, 38, of Liberty, was sentenced to twelve years incarceration in state prison to be followed by five years of post-release supervision by Sullivan County Court Judge James R. Farrell upon his conviction for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C violent felony.
