More Fraud Arrests Announced

Liberty, NY – As part of the recently announced group effort to stop fraud, waste and abuse, the Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Task Force has made the following arrests:

•    September 27, 2017 – Daniel L. Davis Jr., 43, of Liberty was arrested and charged with the Class A Misdemeanor of Non Support of a Child 2nd. It is alleged that Davis owes $41,621.32 in unpaid child support. Davis was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and released pending a future court date.

Public Invited to Discuss Charter Review Recommendations

Monticello, NY – Legislators are hosting two public information meetings this month on the Charter Review Commission’s findings and final report, including the Commission’s recommendation for a County Executive form of government.

The first meeting will be held on Thursday, October 19 at 2:30 p.m. in the Legislative Hearing Room on the second floor of the Government Center in Monticello. The second meeting will be held on Thursday, October 26 at 6 p.m. in the same location. Charter Review Commission members will be available to answer questions.

State Again Notes County's Sound Fiscal Practices

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County Manager Josh Potosek is pleased to announce that the County’s finances continue to be well-managed, according to the latest report from the NYS Comptroller’s Office.

The Office recently released its 2016 Fiscal Stress rankings for municipalities and school districts statewide, based on the annual financial reports submitted to the Office. Sullivan County again scored well, earning the best rank of “No Designation” (meaning there are no indications of the County being susceptible to fiscal stress at this time).
