Systems Coming Slowly Back Online After Major Outage

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County Government has been impacted by the global technology outage relating to Crowdstrike.

“This is a software issue and is not related to a cyber-attack or security concern,” stated Sullivan County Legislature Chair Nadia Rajsz. “Our 911 and Sheriff’s Office are fully operational, and our entire Information Technology Services (ITS) Division is diligently working to bring all systems back online. That said, many services have been disrupted, so we encourage people to call ahead before visiting any County office, even for a pre-arranged appointment.”

DA Conaty Announces Conviction for Lifelong Drug Dealer

Monticello, NY - On July 17, 2024, Sullivan County District Attorney Brian P. Conaty announced that a Sullivan County Jury found Jacob McCoy, 50, guilty of two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Class B Felonies, following a three day trial. The jury found that on November 28, 2023, McCoy possessed one-half ounce of the narcotic drug Fentanyl with the intent to sell it. McCoy, who has three prior felony convictions, faces nine years’ incarceration in state prison and is due to be sentenced on September 25, 2024.

Farmer's Market Coupons Available Next Week

Monticello, NY — The Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program provides an opportunity for eligible seniors to support local farmers and improve their health by increasing their consumption of locally grown fruits, vegetables, and fresh-cut herbs.

To that end, the Office for the Aging will begin distributing Farmer’s Market Coupon booklets on July 10 on a first-come, first-served basis. Each booklet contains five (5) $5 coupons, for a total of $25. Coupons are valid through November 30, 2024 at participating Farmer’s Markets.

County Responds to EMS Crisis with Fly Car Service

Monticello, NY – On Thursday, Sullivan County legislators took a major step in addressing the ongoing emergency medical services (EMS) shortage by unanimously approving the funding of four staffed “fly cars” throughout the County.

“We have heard the concerns of our citizens and our EMS agencies, and we agree that action is needed,” said Legislature Chair Nadia Rajsz. “I am proud that we were all able to agree on providing this much-needed support service for our volunteer ambulance agencies and, in turn, a vital service for all of our Sullivan County residents.”

More Than 50 Local Residents Complete Preparedness Class

Swan Lake, NY – This past weekend, 51 residents trekked to the Sullivan County Emergency Services Training Center to gain valuable insight into all types of emergencies by taking the New York State Citizen Preparedness Class.

Officials from the National Guard and the New York State Office of Emergency Management led the training, focusing on how to prepare for flooding, hurricanes, hot weather, tornadoes, winter storms, fires, power outages, cybersecurity incidents and more.
