Sullivan Improves National Health Ranking

Liberty, NY – Sullivan County Public Health Services is pleased to announce that the County improved its overall level in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s County Health Rankings and Roadmap report for 2020.

“The report was initially released in March, at almost the same time as COVID-19 exploded nationally and globally,” Public Health Director Nancy McGraw said. “The timing would have been awkward, and the messages would have conflicted at a time when so many people were becoming ill, so we chose to wait until now to share this very welcome news.” 

Sullivan County Government Begins Phased Reopening

Monticello, NY – With the entrance of the Mid-Hudson region of the State into Phase 2 of the NY Forward plan tomorrow, June 9, Sullivan County government offices will slowly begin reopening to in-person visits.

“We are bringing back less than 50% of our employees onsite, and offices will be open to the public by appointment only,” explained County Manager Josh Potosek. “This is to ensure that the plan we’ve developed is workable and safe before we bring back more employees and reopen for walk-in customers – likely with the start of Phase 3.”

Sullivan County Extends Repurchase Date for Tax-Foreclosed Properties

Monticello, NY – In consultation with Sullivan County Treasurer Nancy Buck, County Manager Josh Potosek has extended the repurchase period for tax-foreclosed properties to August 31, 2020 at 5 p.m.

“We had already extended the repurchasing deadline from April 20 to June 20, but the fiscal and employment consequences of COVID-19 continue to deeply impact our residents,” Potosek explained. “We want to give our property owners every chance we can to reclaim their land, so I issued an Executive Order pushing the repurchase deadline back to August 31.”

Sullivan County DMV Partially Reopens

DMV and other offices have drop boxes located in the vestibules on both sides of the Sullivan County Government Center in Monticello. These vestibules are open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Monticello, NY – Commencing Monday, June 1, as authorized by the State, the Sullivan County DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) began officially processing limited transactions for Sullivan County residents only. Sullivan County Clerk Russell Reeves also launched the new SC DMV Remote Transaction System to alleviate delays and public frustration.

Public Health, County Laud Longtime Nurse on Her Retirement

Liberty, NY – Sullivan County Public Health Services’ Supervising Community Health Nurse Beth Gilmore, RN, was presented with a plaque on Friday by the Public Health staff in appreciation of her 30 years of loyal and dedicated service to the County. 

Voter Registration Deadline Nears for 2020 Primary Election

Albany, NY - The State Board of Elections reminds all New York State residents that the deadline to register to vote for the June 23, 2020 State, local and federal Primaries, including the Democratic Presidential Primary is this Friday, May 29, 2020. Mail-in voter registration forms must be postmarked by midnight, May 29, 2020.
