Liberty, NY – While the efforts of Sullivan County Public Health Services and other local providers continue to build a vaccinated population, COVID-19 – and its extremely contagious Delta variant – continues to spread across the County, State and nation.
Monticello, NY – Sullivan County’s independent auditors informed legislators Thursday that County government’s financial picture is improving, based on the results of their audit of the 2020 fiscal year.
“2020 was obviously an unorthodox year,” acknowledged Matthew Montalbo of Drescher & Malecki, a Buffalo-based accounting firm. “You did have to significantly reduce your expenditures really to even come close to a balanced budget in 2020.”
Liberty, NY – Public Health Director Nancy McGraw is pleased to announce that, as of August 6, 2021, Sullivan County Public Health Services, community health care partners and area pharmacists have vaccinated 38,608 people against COVID-19 with at least one dose, and 35,050 have had a completed vaccine series. The year-round population is 75,498.

Liberty, NY – With COVID-19 cases climbing towards the three-digit mark – after having been in the single digits just a month ago – Sullivan County Public Health Services is urging people to take proper precautions, including getting vaccinated.
“In just a week’s time, our active cases have tripled, from 24 on July 26 to 72 on August 2,” noted Public Health Director Nancy McGraw. “This indicates transmission is becoming widespread again.”
Liberty, NY – Lyme Disease and other tick-borne illnesses continue to be a health concern in Sullivan County.
“While Lyme Disease remains the prevalent tick-transmitted disease in the County, we are seeing a dramatic rise in the number of cases of anaplasmosis, another tick-borne illness,” notes Public Health Director Nancy McGraw. “In all of 2019, Sullivan County had 653 cases of Lyme and 32 cases of anaplasmosis. In the first half of 2021, there have already been 322 cases of Lyme and 32 cases of anaplasmosis.”

Liberty, NY – Sullivan County Public Health Services had always wanted a reserve of volunteers to call upon, but when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, that long-held desire became a pressing need.
Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office and Sullivan County’s Drug Task Force are pleased to announce their participation in the “Hope Not Handcuffs” Hudson Valley program.
“We are excited to be able to offer this resource to our community and open our front door as a first step in recovery from substance use disorders,” said Meagan Galligan, District Attorney and co-chair of the Task Force. “We will begin participating this fall.”
