Multi-County, Multi-Agency Response to Hazmat Incident at Woodridge Plant

Woodridge, NY – Today, Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 12:12 pm, the Sullivan County 911 Center received a report of two employees at the Newburgh Egg processing facility, 17 Novogrodsky Rd., Woodridge, having a possible allergic reaction. Mobilemedic EMS arrived a short time later and immediately requested the Woodridge Fire Department for a possible chemical leak.

Monticello, NY – In order to more comprehensively cover the full range of lodging opportunities locally, the Sullivan County Legislature just revised the existing Lodging Facility Room Occupancy Tax.

Known informally as the “bed tax” since its 1990 enactment, the tax on the occupancy of lodging facility rooms (5% of the rental rate) is split between the County (which retains 15%) and not-for-profits engaged in tourism marketing and promotion (85%).

Monticello, NY – With departments across the region scrambling to contain 31 brush fires in just the last month, Sullivan County Fire Coordinator John Hauschild is re-emphasizing the fact that a burn ban is in effect through May 14.

Bridge Work Will Require Townsend Road Closure for 5 Months

Liberty, NY - The Sullivan County Division of Public Works is closing a portion of Liberty Town Highway 70 (Townsend Road), in the Town of Liberty, to replace County Bridge 404.

County Bridge 404 is located approximately 0.6 miles southwest of the intersection of State Route 52 and Townsend Rd. This section of Townsend Road is scheduled to be closed to all traffic starting at 8 a.m. April 26, 2021, and will remain closed for approximately 5 months.
