Sullivan Welcomes New Emergency Services Training Coordinator

Swan Lake, NY – Joe Mall understands that, as Public Safety Commissioner Scott Schulte says, “he’s got big shoes to fill.”

What Mall may or may not know, however, is that both Schulte and Deputy Commissioner John Hauschild think he’s already doing “a really amazing job.”

Office for the Aging to Be Closed Wednesday, September 20

Monticello, NY – The Office for the Aging will be closed on Wednesday, September 20 just for that day, reopening on the 21st.

“Our entire staff is needed to help coordinate our annual luncheon for our Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) participants, which will be held that day,” explained Office for the Aging Director Lise-Anne Deoul. “We apologize for any inconvenience, but we very much want this event to be memorable and special for our volunteers and their families.”

POW/MIA Day to Be Observed

The Fallen Comrade Table, present at every Sullivan County POW/MIA Recognition Day, features a specific set of items designed to remember American servicepeople who were/are Prisoners of War or Missing in Action.

Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Veterans Service Agency will have a special ceremony in honor of POW/MIA Recognition Day at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023 inside the lobby of the Sullivan County Government Center, 100 North Street, Monticello.

The public is cordially invited to attend this special ceremony.

Public Invited to Weigh in on State Grant Priorities Plan

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County Manager Josh Potosek encourages local residents and businesspeople to tune in to a Zoom meeting this Thursday, September 7 to discuss State grant funding priorities for economic development.

“This is a significant opportunity to let State decisionmakers know what and how we want to stimulate our economy, attract jobs and grow our downtowns,” Potosek remarked. “Our comments will inform the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council’s (REDC’s) update of its strategic plan.”
