The New York Systems Change and Inclusive Opportunities Network (NY SCION) is a pioneering program designed to transform the employment landscape for individuals with disabilities. Launched in 2022, NY SCION collaborates with over 25 Local Workforce Development Boards (LWDBs) to serve individuals across 48 counties, including New York City. Our mission is twofold: to break down barriers to employment for people with disabilities and to foster a more inclusive workforce across the state.
We Offer:
Social Security Benefits Counseling
Support in understanding how work may affect SSDI/SSI or Medicaid/Medicare benefits.
Identification of career, training, and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities using assessments.
Accommodations to fully participate in CWD services.
Help ensure that individuals with disabilities access all the different programs and services they need, including career and training services offered through the Career Centers to participate in existing career pathway programs.
Facilitate an effective approach to leverage resources needed for individuals with disabilities to fully participate in existing career pathway programs and to achieve their employment and/or training goals.
Guidance on how to use our services effectively - including workshops, job search assistance, access to computers, and hiring events.
Connections to disability community resources that support your employment goals.
Information on disability disclosure and how it relates to employment.
