Sullivan County Launches New Signage, Zoning Programs

Monticello, NY – Sullivan County has made $150,000 available for municipalities through two new community development incentive programs: Sullivan Signs and the Business-Friendly Zoning & Permitting programs.

The Sullivan Signs Program will assist local municipalities in enhancing the County’s image, identity, and sense of place, and improving visitor experiences, through upgrades and additions to welcome signs, pole or street light banners, historical markers, wayfinding and other types of signage.

Brush Fires a Potent Reminder to Adhere to Burn Ban

This brush fire along Perry Road in Bethel required a response by the White Lake Fire Department on Saturday, April 14. Investigators believe it was caused by open burning. Hunter Lake is in the distance.

Monticello, NY – After several brush fires in the past week, Sullivan County Fire Coordinator John Hauschild is re-emphasizing the fact that a burn ban is in effect through May 15.

County Clerk

The County Clerk’s Office requires appointments for submission of new pistol applications, expedited gun amendments, pistol co-registrations and new passports applications, all others can be served on a walk-in basis.

Sullivan County International Airport (MSV)

Sullivan County International Airport (MSV) is located in White Lake, close to the main villages of Liberty and Monticello and also to the site of the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival, now home to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.

The airport operates amidst a bucolic setting, with views of the nearby Catskill Mountains. The airport provides services to General and Business Aviation, with self and full fueling services and an Airport Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) team and truck onsite during hours of operation.

Office for the Aging

The primary objective of the Office for the Aging is to be the lead advocate for the older population of Sullivan County.  All the programs sponsored or directly operated by this office are designed to give choices to older people, with the hope that through these choices they will be able to remain in their own homes and communities as long as possible. 

The Office for the Aging gives priority for services to those who are frail, low income, minority, and homebound.

Human Resources Department

Welcome to the Sullivan County Human Resources Department's website. Sullivan County has a workforce of approximately 1,200 employees. It is the Human Resources Department's responsibility to ensure qualified applicants are available to fill any vacancies within the various county departments, local municipalities, school districts, special districts and special jurisdictions by posting and administering civil service tests and providing lists of eligible candidates pursuant to New York State Civil Service Law.
