Monticello, NY – Sullivan County Director of Real Property Tax Services Ed Homenick announces the release of the County’s new Geoportal.
“This is a new tool I’m very excited to have our Office bring to the public,” Homenick affirms. “It will greatly expand and simplify the ways people can find a range of information, from tax maps to specific parcel data to natural and manmade features throughout Sullivan County.”

Monticello, NY – Due to the current and forecasted bitterly cold weather, Sullivan County is opening warming centers beginning today, Wednesday, December 13 at 6 p.m. These centers will remain open through noon this Saturday, December 16.
The warming centers will be located in Monticello at the Ted Stroebele Recreation Center at 5 Jefferson Street and in Liberty at the United Methodist Church at 170 North Main Street. Everyone is welcome to stop in and warm up, and these facilities will remain open overnight.
Monticello, NY – All nine legislators gave their assent today to the 2018 Sullivan County Budget, which proposes to spend just over $226 million yet stay under the state-mandated property tax cap with a projected tax levy increase of 2.3%.
“This is a conscientious budget, taking into account the needs of both our staff and our taxpayers,” remarked Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez. “I thank everyone who worked toward that goal.”
Albany, NY – Amidst a competitive field of contestants throughout the Mid-Hudson region, 13 initiatives across Sullivan County proved winners in the eyes of New York State this week, winning a combined $5,570,433 in state grants through the 2017 Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) process.
“What great news for Sullivan County! This is the highest number of projects we’ve ever had gain funding through the CFA program,” noted Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez.
Wurtsboro, NY – Sullivan County’s Division of Public Works will conduct a Public Informational Meeting to discuss the proposed repairs to the Sullivan County Route 66/Hamilton Road (Orange County Route 48) Bridge over Shawangunk Kill in Burlingham.
The meeting will be held at the Mamakating Town Hall, 2948 Route 209, Wurtsboro, NY, on January 9, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to obtain comments from interested parties and adjacent landowners related to proposed project alternatives and their associated environmental effects.
