Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office in Monticello will be closed to the public from Friday, October 30 to Tuesday, November 3, 2026, reopening on Wednesday, November 4.
“We are completing renovations throughout the office, to better accommodate both the public and our staff,” explained Sullivan County Clerk Russell Reeves, who oversees DMV. “The work has already resulted in compliments and quicker service, and I look forward to hearing feedback when we reopen.”
While the October 30 and November 2 closures will be due to renovations, the November 3 closure will include all other County offices, which are always closed on Election Day.
The Monticello DMV will be offering later evening hours on Wednesday, October 28 and Thursday, October 29 to compensate for the closures, staying open until 6:30 p.m. both days. The mobile office is unaffected and will be offered throughout the County on the usual dates.
Appointments continue to be strongly encouraged, and the online scheduling system (www.sullivanny.gov/Departments/Clerk/DMV) includes the extended operating hours.
“We will not be accepting appointments or walk-ins after 6:30 p.m. on those days in Monticello, so come earlier,” noted Reeves. “And thank you for your patience as we complete these long-awaited renovations!”
