Lake Huntington, NY - On September, 17, 2025, Sullivan County District Attorney Brian P, Conaty along with Assistant District Attorney Nour Goodfriend, a former student of Sullivan West, attended Sullivan West’s Open House Safe Driving Seminar to speak to the students, parents, and faculty regarding driver safety.
At the seminar, DA Conaty specifically addressed the young junior drivers and reminded them that the possession of a New York State driver’s license is a privilege and not a right. Conaty further focused on the dangers of distracted driving, such as using cell phones and navigation systems, talking to passengers, and impaired or intoxicated driving. Additionally, Conaty shared his own personal experience from 2011 that left him hospitalized and requiring multiple surgeries.
Conaty said: “It is an absolute honor to address the young drivers of our county and to share with them my personal experience. It is my hope that this message resonates with each and everyone of them so they never have to endure the pain that myself and my family experienced.”
