Monticello, NY - On September 16, 2025, Sullivan County District Attorney Brian P. Conaty announced that Ollen Eck, 40, of Liberty, was sentenced to ten years’ incarceration in state prison to be followed by five years of post-release supervision by Sullivan County Court Judge James R. Farrell following Eck’s conviction for Robbery in the Second Degree, a Class C violent felony. Separately, Eck was also sentenced to ten years’ incarceration in state prison to be followed by five years of post-release supervision, to run concurrently with his sentence for the robbery, by Judge Farrell following Eck’s conviction for Burglary in the Second Degree, a Class C violent felony. Eck, who had one prior felony conviction and thirteen misdemeanor convictions, was sentenced as a second felony offender due to his conviction for Burglary in the Third Degree, a Class D felony, in 2015.
As alleged in the indictment charging Robbery in the Second Degree, to which Eck entered a plea of guilty, Eck forcibly stole approximately two-hundred dollars ($200) from the clerk of the Sunoco gas station in Livingston Manor while displaying what appeared to be a firearm on or about March 16, 2024. As alleged in the indictment charging Burglary in the Second Degree, to which Eck entered a plea of guilty, Eck entered a residence located on Pleasant Street Extension, in the Town of Thompson, with the intent to commit a crime therein on or about April 7, 2024.
Eck was apprehended on these charges following an investigation by the New York State Police, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, and Village of Monticello Police Department into the robbery and burglary allegations. This case was handled from indictment to sentence by Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey Laurice.
Conaty said: “This sentence reflects the seriousness of these crimes and the danger posed when individuals choose violence to commit theft. The defendant threatened the life of the gas station clerk, creating fear and chaos in what should have been an ordinary day. Thanks to the diligent investigation by the New York State Police, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, and the Village of Monticello Police Department, as well as the courage of the victims, Eck was apprehended and held accountable. Armed robbery is not just a property crime – it is an act of violence that leaves lasting scars on victims and communities. This sentence ensures that Eck will face the consequences of his actions while protecting the public from further harm. I wish to extend my sincere gratitude to all those who contributed to this successful prosecution.”
