A Message from the Fire Coordinator
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all fire personnel and emergency services for your dedication and teamwork over the past month. Your continued efforts are truly appreciated.
Memorial Day has come and gone, and as we move into the summer months, we face a new set of challenges. With increased recreational activity on the river, and more visitors and second-home owners now residing in the county full time, we anticipate a rise in various emergency calls. These may include water rescues, lost persons, activated fire alarms, and motor vehicle accidents. Please remain vigilant and continue to take all necessary safety precautions.
The Emergency Services Youth Academy Scheduled for July 20–24, the Emergency Services Youth Academy has seen a promising increase in participation, with 25 enrolled, 18 new cadets and 7 returning. This is a great step forward in community engagement and future recruitment.
Our Recruitment & Retention – “Join Sullivan Fire” task force will be attending several upcoming community events to support recruitment and retention efforts. Emails will be sent out requesting volunteers to assist at the following events:
July 2nd – Bethel Lakeside Music Festival (6:00–8:00 PM)
July 11th – Wurtsboro Street Fair (11:00-5:00PM)
August 9th – Bagel Festival (9:00AM-4:00PM)
August 14–16 – Little World’s Fair, Grahamsville
Fri: 12 PM–11 PM
Sat: 9 AM–11 PM
Sun: 9 AM–6 PM
The training course schedule for early and late summer is now posted. Fall course offerings will be announced soon.
The training center is available for individual or joint department use. If you are interested in reserving time, please contact the training center at least two weeks in advance.
