Monticello, NY – You can help Sullivan County build capacity to withstand extreme weather events and economic shocks, adapt to a changing environment, and plan new infrastructure with resiliency in mind.
The County is developing a comprehensive Resiliency Plan, looking at the interrelated issues of the environment, the local economy and the social and physical infrastructure. Town and village officials, County residents, businesspeople and community organizations are invited to help develop shared goals and identify potential projects that will enhance the County’s ability to prepare, recover and thrive in the face of future challenges.
Whether it’s meeting housing needs, supporting agriculture, protecting natural resources, ensuring access to jobs, food and essential services, or addressing energy infrastructure and utilities including broadband, this is an opportunity for County residents to share their special community knowledge and insights. Take a look at two online tools:
- The digital Resilient Sullivan Vision Board, which can be found through the website, explains the draft goals that have been formulated by the project’s Advisory Board, and invites visitors to share initiatives, strategies, and projects to support each goal. https://mudworkshop.mysocialpinpoint.com/resilientsullivanplan/ideas#/
- The Resilient Sullivan Mapping Tool allows anyone to tag specific places with comments and recommendations regarding economic, social or environmental resilience, hydrology, flooding, open space, or other issues that need attention. https://mudworkshop.mysocialpinpoint.com/sullivanresiliency#/
Both of these online tools are user-friendly and will remain open for comments through July 15, 2023.
Resilient Sullivan is being developed with funding provided by the New York State Department of State under Title 3 of the Environmental Protection Fund.
